Simon Riley was a contemporary portraitist who studied at St. Martins School of Art. When he left, he became a pavement artist, chalking on flagstones all over the UK. He then stumbled into a job as a community artist for Liverpool City Council. Charged with brightening up some of the city’s less attractive areas, Simon would illustrate large murals of cityscapes, whilst adding his own small flourishes such as a streaker or someone throwing up in a gutter.
