Julian Opie is a British artist whose instantly recognisable style has gained him popularity throughout the world. His highly stylized figures includes elements of Pop Art and Minimalism with a contemporary quality. His earliest works consisted of mainly painted steel sculptures. Over time, the artist has expanded his practice to include painting, installation, and even cover art for albums. Julian Opie was born in London and graduated in 1983 from Goldsmiths School of Art, where he was taught by Michael Craig-Martin. His works can be found in many public art collections, including Tate, British Museum, Victoria & Albert and National Portrait Gallery in London, The Museum of Modern Art in New York, ICA in Boston USA and Takamatsu City Museum of Art in Japan.
