Rebecca Warren Rebecca Warren

Rebecca Warren mainly works in sculpture, producing amorphous pieces that often depicts the nude female form and tackles themes of sexuality by making reference to the work of male Modernist sculptors. Her subject is one of the most traditional in art history, but she subverts and redefines the genre by creating figures that look anatomically exaggerated and impermanent and light at the same time. The materials she uses are as varied as clay, bronze, neon, paper. In 2006, Warren was nominated for the prestigious Turner Prize. In 2014 Warren was elected a member of the Royal Academy of Arts and since then she is Professor of Arts at the Kunstakademie in Düsseldorf. Her work can be found in a number of public collections, including Tate, London and MoMA, New York.
