Artist

Roy Lichtenstein

Roy Lichtenstein was a leading figure in the Pop Art movement, renowned for transforming the visual language of comic books and advertising into fine art. Born in New York, Lichtenstein developed his distinctive style in the early 1960s, using bold outlines, primary colours and his signature Ben-Day dots to recreate the appearance of commercial printing. His works often drew from comic strips, consumer culture and art history, challenging traditional ideas around originality and artistic value. Alongside Andy Warhol, Lichtenstein helped define American Pop Art, leaving a lasting influence on contemporary art and visual culture.
