British favourite, David Shrigley, is best known for his witty and absurd drawings, limited editions and sculptures. The humorous content of his pictures, captures both the dark and light of the human spirit and every day life. Shrigley has been nominated for the prestigious Turner Prize and has received the Trafalgar Square Fourth Plinth commission. The artist has another major achievement to add to the list now as he has just received an OBE (Officer of the Order of the British Empire) for his contribution to the Visual Arts sector.

The New Year Honours List is a British tradition marked by naming new members of orders of chivalry and recipients of other official British honours. The awards were presented by Queen Elizabeth II. The selection is made up of names nominated by government officials and the public is also allowed to nominate. Honours have been awarded at New Year for over a century.
