Britain's favourite elusive artist, Banksy has installed a new artwork in Birmingham, a season-inspired piece highlighting the United Kingdom's ever-growing homelessness and rough sleeping issue.

The artwork appeared in a short video posted on his Instagram that shows a man named Ryan having a drink before lying down on a bench with his belongings by his side. As the camera moves out a pair of reindeer appear, "pulling" the bench into the starry sky.

Unveiling the work, Banksy praised the generosity of the people of Birmingham who gave Ryan food and drink while they were filming. The post said: "God bless Birmingham. In the 20 minutes we filmed Ryan on this bench passers-by gave him a hot drink, two chocolate bars and a lighter - without him ever asking for anything."

The video already has close to 3 million views.

The piece, as expected, gathered a lot of attention, with many visiting to view and take pictures with it. Barriers were also installed to protect the piece however the work was still defaced by a vandal who sprayed red noses on the reindeer a few hours later.
