Hang-Up Editions Round-Up

26 Sep 2018

Hang-Up has been exclusively publishing limited edition prints since 2008. Including collaborations with established names such as The Connor Brothers, and Darryl DMC McDaniels of Run-DMC, we work closely with our artists to produce unique, affordable and investable artworks. We are now delighted to launch an online exhibition of all the artworks we have published in the 11 years of Hang-Up Editions. Read on for a look at our most-wanted editions and to learn more about what makes them special... Oh and did we mention you can claim a special discount on all editions for the first week of the show?

We have been exclusively publishing limited edition prints since 2008. Since then we have built quite the portfolio, which includes names such as The Connor Brothers, Mark Powell and Darryl DMC McDaniels. We enjoy working closely with our artists to produce unique, affordable and investable artworks and are now delighted to release a full catalogue of our editions. With the release of our catalogue we thought we'd look back at some of our epic collaborations since we started.

But first... What Makes Hang-Up Editions Special?

Hang-Up editions are usually small editions of 35 prints or less, which makes them highly collectable especially considering the sought-after artists we publish them with. We ensure our editions are printed to the highest quality by partnering with the best printers, usually screen-print guru Diego, at Multiple Editions and the master printers of Jealous Gallery. Our editions are stamped with our HU embossed stamp and come with a COA from Hang-Up, ensuring their authenticity. There is a great spirit of collaboration created through the joint efforts of our artists, printers and team from which the final works benefit greatly. It also makes the process super fun and special to us.

Hang-Up editions have proven to be very popular for which we are very thankful. Many of our commercial clients favour our editions, so they have also graced the walls of some exciting projects and spaces around the UK. Through the great relationships we have established with fellow galleries we are able to offer our editions at trade discount to other galleries to ensure they reach a wider audience. Hang-Up collector Stuart Hyman from Canada gives a quote after receiving two of our edition pieces, Bronze 99 Problems and Normal Is the Cruelest of Insults:

"Tremendous thanks to Hang-Up Gallery. I absolutely LOVE the artwork that I purchased from this incredible Gallery. Wonderful, knowledgeable staff that care about their customers, Hang-Up offers a wide array of amazing authentic art from terrific highly sought after artists such as Harland Miller, Banksy, The Connor Bros, Oddly Head etc… Two Thumbs up! Professional service from start to finish!"

A Look Back...

Oddly Head

The end of Summer saw us releasing the deluxe and sought-after bronze edition of Oddly Head's 99 Problems. Hang-Up was lucky enough to got a behind-the-scenes view of the fascinating process behind the decadent sculptures.

The complex process involved wax moulds, firing, casting, welding and much more. You can read more about the casting process here. All the hard work of the excellent team at AB Foundry lead to the above results, which almost sold-out within hours of their release.

Here's a short video of part of the process from when Oddly Head took over our instagram.

Our exclusive releases with Oddly Head don't end here. Me 017 was also released in collaboration with our gallery for his solo show Repeat After Me at Hang-Up. The print was part of the Me Editions, which all contributed 10% of their sales to Medecins San Frontiers. For Me 017 we worked with our frequent collaborator Diego Mena at Multiple Editions. Diego is an expert in the field and working with him is always a pleasure. You can read his interview on working on Me 017 here.

The Connor Brothers

This year we also teamed up with The Connor Brothers to publish two of their prints. Needless to say they were both massive hits that had our phones ringing non-stop. In the words of The Connor Brothers' Mike Snelle: "Publishing with Hang-Up has been a pleasure, and is a great way to reach new audiences with accessible works."

Darryl DMC McDaniels

And how could we forget the time we were appointed the official gallery partner to host the UK launch of The Art of DMC by Run-DMC's Darryl McDaniels? Along with the official launch of the Art of DMC we also released My Adidas! a limited edition of 75 prints by the artist-mc, adorned with gold leaf. The limited edition just like the event we hosted was a massive success.

Mark Powell

During our Hang-Ten celebrations we also teamed up with Mark Powell for a special limited edition of his print To The Soul. Mark on working with our team: "The entire Hang-Up team are a cool bunch and so easy to work with and a lot of fun."

David de la Mano

For Adrift, David de la Mano's solo show in 2017 we released his prints Border Events, with 10% of each sale going to Refugee Community Kitchen. This print once again saw us working with Diego who did a fantastic job of capturing the characteristic delicate and transient quality of de la Mano's work. Each print was also hand finished by the de la Mano himself.

Adding that Hang-Up embossed stamp.

Border Events was not our first collaboration with de la Mano, as we also released his print El Hoyo in 2015.

Johnathan Reiner

In 2016, we exclusively published Warrior Boy in collaboration with Johnathan Reiner for his first solo show at Hang-Up, and in London, Femme Fetale! The beautiful piece is embellished with glitter and was the only male figure amongst the many female figures portrayed in the show.

Johnathan Reiner on how special this edition was: "When Hang-Up came up with the idea of producing an exclusive limited edition I knew I wanted to create something fresh and fierce. My solution was Warrior Boy, a move away from the female figure portraying a boy on the verge of manhood carrying a glitter red heart and a creative mind of a child yet ready to face what life has coming his way with bravery, dedication and compassion. Maybe it was my vision of how I felt towards the first solo show. I still draw courage when facing him eye to eye." We think the results speak for themselves.

It certainly has been an exciting and rewarding 10 years of Hang-Up editions. We are excited for what we have in store for the future and can't wait for you to see.

Thanks for reading and for all your support. You can view our new dedicated Hang-Up editions page here. Don't hesitate to contact us with any questions at info@hanguppictures.com.

And of course a big thank you to our amazing artist, printers and team!

Love,

Hang-Up Crew
