Diego Mena | Master Printer

The Refugee Community Kitchen | Border Events Print

In support with the theme of David de la Mano's upcoming solo exhibition 'Adrift', Hang-Up Gallery will be donating 10% of the sales from the exclusive 'Border Events' print to charity organisation 'Refugee Community Kitchen'.

Refugee Community Kitchen was created in the Autumn of 2015 to aid refugees living in the camps of Europe. Since December 2015, RCK have cooked an incredible estimated 1.5 million meals, working 7 days a week to help the lives of those forced to flea their homes from poverty, war and violence.

"Having seen tens of thousands of people forced to leave their homes and living in awful conditions in northern France, a group of us – event organisers, chefs, caterers, doulas, and activists – came together to offer assistance in the form of nourishing meals and access to fresh food daily. We pooled together our skills and those of our resourceful friends and anyone else who wanted to help, and set up Refugee Community Kitchen to serve the camps in Calais, Dunkirk and beyond." (RCK)

David de la Mano's upcoming exhibition 'Adrift' portrays the anonymous epic of travelling on a rough ship, or passing through reinforced wire fences - all characteristics of the current fear of some nations to the refugee invasion.
