Hang-Up presents a group show of works by Norwegian photographer Anja Niemi and London based artist Rosie Emerson. Two contemporary artists who frequently using photography as their medium manipulating their images to produce striking contemporary work. Alongside these works Hang-Up will be exhibiting a selection of editioned photographic works and objects by American artist Nancy Fouts. The modern day surrealist, Fouts frequently manipulates everyday objects, combining them to present them to us so that we see them as if for the first time capturing her sculptural works in the form of c-type photographic artworks.


Rosie Emerson Rosie Emerson

Rosie Emerson was born in Dorset in 1981. Since graduating in Fine Art from Kingston University In 2004, she has dedicated her work to exploring beauty, power and voyeurism interwoven within the subject of the female image. Emerson figures draw reference from archetype’s old and new, from Artemis to the modern day super model. Using drawing, collage or direct collaborations with photographers to create enigmatic images of women, which are simultaneously seductive and ultimately impotent. Rosie has exhibited widely in the UK, as well, Europe, and recently in LA, Singapore, Hong Kong and Dallas. Her work has also been featured in the likes of Vogue, Harpers Bazaar, Another Magazine, The Financial Times and The Sunday Times Style Magazine.
