For Papakostas, the act of creation begins with a bold, intuitive gesture—an initial movement that, whilst could be executed in seconds, carries the weight of deep intention. “It’s not easy to capture everything you want in a single move and have it look exactly how you imagined,” he says.

From there, he returns to the surface with charcoal and pastels, adding layers of depth, movement, and emotional resonance. “I give it more movement,” he explains, “make it more dynamic, and try to develop a kind of parallel narrative alongside the initial gesture.”
