“Water, the idea of drawing water, is always appealing to me... You can look on it, through it, into it, see it as volume, see it as surface...the idea of representing it has always rather fascinated me and I keep going back to it"
David Hockney

As a subscriber to Hang-Up Gallery, we are delighted to bring you a newly acquired, signed limited-edition print by British artist David Hockney.

Created in 1980, Pool Made with Paper with Blue Ink has become one of the most keenly collected editions. In this work, he brings the rigour of printmaking to life with the fluidity and freshness of painting. A perfect combination of his enduring fascination with the swimming pool motif.

Since its first appearance at auction in 2000, the edition has performed strongly on the secondary market, reaching a record hammer price of £81,900 at Phillips London in 2023, and more recently achieving £69,300 at Christie’s London in March 2025.

We are now offering this piece at the most competitive price on the market of £54,500.

  • 1980
  • Lithograph on paper
  • 26 x 22cm
  • Signed and numbered limited edition of 1000

The piece is in the gallery and available to view. If you are interested, please do not hesitate to get in touch, as I would be happy to assist you.
