I wanted to give you early access to four new paintings by Kostas Papakostas before they are released publicly, ahead of his upcoming exhibition at Hang-Up Gallery.

As someone who follows and collects Kostas’ work, I thought you may want first sight of these pieces. This is a particularly strong new group, with the artist introducing a rich burgundy palette that gives the works real warmth, depth and presence.

There is a lovely contrast across the series. Almost Grace and Sitting While the House Forgets feel sleek and almost silken in texture, while After You Left and We Only Had Tonight have a more expressive, energetic quality. Together, they show exactly what makes Kostas’ work so compelling: that balance between instinct, movement, chaos and control.

As Kostas explains:

“My process is intuitive and gestural. Each mark responds to the one before it, and the interaction between colour and gesture works in synergy until something meaningful begins to emerge.”

All works are signed by the artist and priced inclusive of UK VAT.

Personally, Sitting While the House Forgets feels like the standout statement piece within the series, while the three smaller works offer a very accessible way to acquire a new painting from this body of work.
