Drawing the Line
David Hockney, Tracey Emin + David Shrigley

Hang-Up Gallery is pleased to present a curated selection of works by leading British artists who harness the power of the simple line.

From the elegance of minimal gesture to the immediacy of a contour, line drawing has long held a unique position in the history of art. It is the very foundation of visual thinking - a primal connection between hand, eye and thought.

This is a rare chance to collect works that feel both timeless and completely personal. Whether you’re just starting a collection or looking to add something special, these pieces are a beautiful reminder of how powerful simplicity can be.

Who is Henry Geldzahler?

He is best remembered for his tenure at the Metropolitan Museum of Art (the Met) in New York, where he served from 1960 to 1977. He was the museum’s first Curator for 20th-Century Art, a bold move at the time for such a traditionally classical institution.

Hockney found in Geldzahler not just a friend, but a brilliant mind and a powerful critic who could offer rare insight.
