Hughes is best known for his unique technique which creates interactive optical illusions for viewers of his paintings. His 'Reverspective' works are held in public collections including the Tate Britain and the V&A and are regularly exhibited worldwide in major institutions and galleries.

Patrick Hughes

Patrick Hughes

Despite being largely self-taught, Patrick Hughes devised a unique and intricate style of painting known as ‘reverspective’ which has been widely admired (and sometimes copied). Hughes’s signature 3D paintings of galleries, streets and landscapes are designed so that viewers can interact with them to create incredible optical illusions of movement.

Labyrinth AU

Marc Quinn is known for creating portraits that are more than just an image of the sitter but rather a visual index of their identity. In the Labyrinth series he uses the pattern of a person's fingerprint to demonstrate this idea whilst commenting on super-surveillance culture. As Quinn has commented, “we (have) become encoded into a unique abstraction which is also profoundly figurative”.

Labyrinth CD

Labyrinth CD (Cadmium) is an embossed woodcut print. Layers of red ink are built up to achieve a stunning leathery finish. Woodcut is the oldest method of printing and involves carving a design into the surface of a wooden block, leaving the printing parts level with the surface.

Marriage Flag

Just as with his ceramic pots, Perry's tapestries play with the idea of using an ancient form of art to discuss contemporary issues. His embroidery works take an art form traditionally associated with majestic mansions and images of historical scenes and epic battles and they're given a whole new, modern meaning.

With its simple shapes arranged from a limited selection of colours, 'Magenta and Green' is a perfect example of Bridget Riley's interest in the visual relationship between contrast and harmony, the connections between colours and shapes and the effects, both visual and emotional, they have on the viewer.

Bridget Riley

Bridget Riley

Once described in the Sunday Times as ‘the Queen of Op Art’, Bridget Riley is widely considered a pioneer of the movement and one of the world’s most significant living artists.

Riley is one of the top ten most expensive living British artists and one of the top ten most expensive living women artists. In 2016 her ‘Untitled (Diagonal Curve)’ fetched an outstanding record for over £4.3 million at Christie’s, almost three times its high estimate.

Undoubtedly Testino's greatest muse, Kate Moss and the photographer met when the model was just fourteen, crying backstage at a Galliano show because she had only been given one catwalk look. This edition was published to coincide with the exhibition 'Joshua Reynolds: The Creation of Celebrity' 26 May - 18 September 2005 Tate Britain.
