“I hope people realise it’s full of language. I layered it all on there. The canvas is like a palimpsest.”
José Parlá on his Barclays Center mural, Brooklyn. The New York Times.

Critically acclaimed artist José Parlá is renowned for his distinctive abstract paintings layered with calligraphic gestures and dynamic brushstrokes.

Whether you are after a limited edition or an original piece, we have two newly acquired artworks that would fulfil any collector's dream.

For more details on each piece, keep scrolling and click on the artwork.

Original canvases by José Parlá are extremely rare to come by and I am delighted to offer you a preview of this special piece from 2009.

As comfortable painting on the street as in a studio, Parlá described his murals and canvases as palimpsests, the layered traces alluding to memory and the passage of time.

"If I'm going through something, I paint through it. It's very physical. I'm writing, I'm thinking, I'm meditating, I'm moving, I'm jumping off ladders, and it's therapeutic."
