Sale Ends was first created in 2006 for Banksy’s Los Angeles show ‘Barely Legal’, in 2006.
The image presents an anti-capitalist sentiment that is felt throughout Banksy's oeuvre. It appears to criticise the glorification of consumerism and draws parallels between religion and the coveting of sales and discounts.
Part of the ‘Barely Legal Print Set’ series, the work was originally made as an edition of 100 unsigned prints and sold at the show for $500 apiece. This series together is considered to be one of the rarest and most valuable collections of Banksy prints.
