The Buoyancy of Basquiat

Through a more subdued sale at Christie's New York last week, Basquiat came out on top. Four Basquiat prints were some of the highest prices achieved at the Contemporary Editions auction.

Three of these achieved over their high estimate and 'Charles the First' nearly doubled its high estimate.

It appears that amidst a hesitant market, works by Basquiat are holding their value.
