“I love ideas, it’s all about ideas, not style or technique, but ideas.”
In Focus
Nancy Fouts

The artist, the thinker, the maker and the forever rebel. When Nancy Fouts entered the art scene, everyone knew she was here to stay. She was friends with everyone from Ai Weiwei to Sir Peter Blake, from Gavin Turk to the power couple; Dr Diane Atkinson and Patrick Hughes. And amongst these numerous admirers was Banksy himself, who made this known in an email sent to her.

Sadly having passed away in April 2019, her legacy and humour still live on in her artworks.

We take a look at her career over the decades.

“She would take you excitedly down to her magical workshop in the basement to pull open drawers of feathers, watches, shells, eyeballs and jewellery tools. Her infectious laughter and flashing eyes would sparkle as she described with her maker’s hands her latest conception or discussed the affairs of the day in visual metaphor.”
Gavin Turk told The Guardian on her death
“The only difference between Banksy and me is that he can afford to buy my work, but I can’t afford to buy his.”
