Golf Saledepicts a man deliberately obstructing the advance of three military tanks. This act of defiance against authority and militarised control is a familiar theme in Banksy artworks.

This work pays homage to Tank Man, the iconic figure captured in a photograph taken during the 1989 protests in Tiananmen Square. This image immortalises a lone individual's courageous protest against the Chinese government, as he bravely stands in the path of the tanks, resolutely refusing to let them pass.

I Fought The Law depicts a group of men, the positioning of whom provides a reversal of photographs capturing the assassination attempt of Ronald Reagan.

One such man has been pinned to the ground by three others after having graffitied ‘I Fought The Law And I Won’, on the wall behind them. The writing on the wall is a twist on the infamous Clash song, ‘I Fought The Law and The Law Won.’

By subverting this phrase, Banksy can be seen to suggest that, despite getting caught, the graffiti artist had already 'won' by writing on the wall. In completing this act, had succeeded in getting his message out there despite what happened next.
