No disappointing auction results

Unlike auctions where you may find your artwork just scrapes its low reserve we set the parameters in advance. You choose whether to accept the price.

How it works

Over many years we have enabled our collectors to subscribe to specific artist mailing lists, so we have a detailed knowledge of what artists people collect. So when we have a new work to sell (yours for example), we can offer it directly to people who are actively interested.

We target known collectors

We know the collectors who are likely to be interested in your artwork, and send targeted emails to them directly.

When sold, ship the artwork to us

You keep the artwork until it’s sold, then simply send it to us and we ship to the buyer with our specialist art couriers.

Get paid 10 days after the sale

We handle payment from the buyer, then after 10 days we deduct the commission and arrange payment to you.

When submitting a consignment, we ask that you provide as much information as possible on the item in question. Please be open about the condition of the work and include detailed images if possible. Ideally, we would ask for images of the following:
- The front
- The back
- Any details (signature, number, title, labels)
- Any condition issues
- Any Certificate of Authenticity
- Any provenance documentation

The majority of our works are sold using a UK government scheme called the margin scheme.

It is applied for all secondary market artworks and the cost of the VAT is included in the sales price. When selling work directly from VAT registered artists or publishers, standard VAT will be charged - currently 20%.

On occasion, we will not be able to find a buyer for the artwork. This is rare and should this happen we will discuss available options with you in person.

It is the seller's responsibility to cover any and all costs relating to packing and shipping the artwork to the gallery. The gallery will then arrange with the buyer the onward shipping needs.

We aim to sell works within the contracted period of 60 days. Although when priced correctly and in line with the market, it can usually be quicker than this.

COA's are issued by Pest Control. They can be applied for directly with the Pest Control Office. If the application is successful you will be contacted and a payment of £50 + VAT will be requested. You will then be issued a certificate of authenticity for your Banksy and it is ready to sell.

Be aware the process is by no means immediate and can take anything from a few weeks to a few months or sometimes even years when there is a backlog.

We have an in-house tracking system with over ten years of pricing data from the sale of Banksy works from auctions, galleries and private sales. We follow the market very carefully, it’s our business.

We use this information to calculate the current values so can assist with valuations if you are submitting work to our Sell Art service.

We are liable for the artwork once it is in the gallery’s possession however it is the seller’s responsibility to ensure it reaches us in good order.

Artworks left with the gallery are covered by a specialist insurance policy provided by XL Catlin and underwritten by Virtu.

The artwork may be applicable for the deduction of Artist Resale Rights (ARR) which would be payable to DACS. The higher the sale price of the artwork the lower the overall royalty rate. The royalty is worked out according to a sliding scale from 4% to 0.25%. A link to the DACS calculator for an accurate quote can be found here.

The Artist's Resale Right means that artists could be entitled to a royalty each time their work is resold with the involvement of an auction house, gallery or dealer for €1,000 or more.

As of 1 January 2012, the Right in the UK was extended to cover sales of work by deceased artists still in copyright, which means that beneficiaries and heirs can now benefit. In the UK, copyright lasts for the lifetime of the artist plus 70 years after their death, to the end of that calendar year.

This is the most significant new right for visual artists and their heirs in recent times, giving them an ongoing stake in the value of the artist's work.
