Andy Warhol’s Dollar Sign 9 (F. & S. II. 283) is a bold exploration of America’s obsession with wealth, created during the Reagan-era economic boom. Unlike his appropriation of commercial logos in earlier works, Warhol hand-drew the dollar symbol for this series, adding a personal and almost sculptural layer to the icon. With vivid colour contrasts and expressive shading, he elevates the currency symbol into a vibrant Pop Art motif that critiques and celebrates consumer culture.
