Among the most influential artists of our times and a leading figure of the pop art movement of the 1960's, David Hockney contribution to contemporary art spans from painting, printmaking to stage designing and photography. In 2018, Hockney's 1972 work 'Portrait of an Artist (Pool with Two Figures)' sold at Christie's auction house in New York City for $90 million, becoming the most expensive work by a living artist sold at auction. The British artist held this record until May 2019, when Jeff Koons reclaimed the title when his 'Rabbit' sold for more than $91 million at Christie's, New York. His work is in numerous public and private collections worldwide, including the National Portrait Gallery and Tate in London, J. Paul Getty Museum, Los Angeles, the Metropolitan Museum of Art and MoMA in New York, Centre Georges Pompidou, Paris.
