Artist
Rusty
Born in London in 1995, Rusty is a contemporary fine artist known for her textured, expressive works that explore the complexity of femininity and the female gaze. Currently living and working in South East London, Rusty's artistic journey began in the world of fashion, studying at the University of Westminster, before moving on to Chelsea College of Art, where she graduated in 2018 with a degree in Textile Design. This background in textiles deeply influences her painting style, infusing her work with a rich, tactile quality. Her work is characterised by bold, gestural portraits and nudes that challenge traditional depictions of women, pushing against the confines of the patriarchal gaze. Through her art, Rusty celebrates women who are big, loud, and fearless, confronting and redefining notions of female sexuality and strength.
