A brand new work has been unveiled by Banksy, which he announced earlier today (29th May 2025) on his Instagram account.
The work depicts a lighthouse, with the words 'I want to be what you saw in me'. The lighthouse is depicted to be the shadow cast from a street post in front of the wall that the lighthouse has been sprayed onto.
This embellished shadow can be seen to suggest that even the most ordinary objects can shine if we choose to broaden our perception. The work suggests not only the possibility that even mundane objects can be seen through an artistic lens but also references a common conflation in society between appearance and identity.
