Artist
Lola Stong-Brett
Lola Stong-Brett’s paintings draw on memory, nostalgia, and her immediate surroundings, often unfolding like diaristic reflections on everyday life. Combining abstraction and figuration, her work features cartoon-like characters that shift from playful familiarity to more ambiguous and unsettling encounters, exploring tensions between connection and conflict. Influenced by working-class visual culture, folk art, tattooing, and her own poetry, she moves between humour and gravity while collapsing distinctions between high and low art.
