Artist
Alex Russell Flint
Alex Russell Flint is a British contemporary artist known for his refined portraits and narrative works in oil and charcoal that merge classical technique with a modern sensibility. Inspired by American artist Ted Seth Jacobs’ philosophy of “restructured realism,” his practice can be described as contemporary classicism with a subtle twist. Russell Flint’s work often centres on strong, alluring female figures, depicted in posed portraiture or placed within quietly suggestive, cinematic settings that balance timeless elegance with contemporary attitude. A sense of mystery, glamour, and restrained seduction runs throughout his paintings, inviting the viewer into intimate, unresolved moments. He divides his time between London and his second home in France, l’Ancienne École, a transformed former schoolhouse whose characterful interiors frequently serve as both backdrop and inspiration for his work.
