Exploring the frenetic pace of modern life alongside issues of race, sexuality and politics, Nina Chanel Abney’s big, bold canvases are jam-packed with busy figures and bright colours which reflect the daily struggle with information overload. A Parsons School of Design alumnus, Abney uses simple shapes to blur notions of race and gender, leading the viewer to challenge their own unconscious prejudices. The artist has work in worldwide collections including Hong Kong’s Burger Collection and New York’s Whitney Museum of American Art.
