Mick Jagger (F. & S. II.141) captures the Rolling Stones frontman in a 1975 screen print based on a Polaroid Warhol took during Jagger’s stay at his Montauk home. Shirtless, Jagger is rendered with minimal shading—Warhol preserved only the contours of his lips and eyebrows, opting to draw in his eyes and nose. In this edition of 250, Warhol accentuated Jagger’s lips in pink, emphasising his most iconic feature and adding uniqueness to the series. Part of a ten-print portfolio, Mick Jagger reflects Warhol’s shift toward collage and hand-drawn elements, diverging from earlier prints of Marilyn Monroe and Jackie Kennedy. Jagger co-signed the prints with Warhol, enhancing their value and showcasing their shared commercial acumen. The two had previously collaborated on the Sticky Fingers album cover (1971) and remained close until Warhol’s death in 1987.
