The Campbell’s Soup Cans series was initially displayed in uniform rows, resembling products on a supermarket shelf. Each piece represents a different Campbell’s soup flavor, precisely replicating the brand’s red and white label. Among the first portfolios published by Factory Additions, Warhol’s self-founded company for print production, the series was created using screen printing—a mechanised process that eliminated the artist’s touch. By elevating everyday consumer goods to fine art, Warhol challenges traditional notions of artistic value and consumption.
