In 2021, a version of Morons was bought by blockchain company Injective Protocol and set alight in a livestreamed video. The work was subsequently sold in a tokenised digital version for £274,000. Banksy remained silent on the stunt, though he himself created the piece to mock the value placed on art by investors – which Injective Protocol used to justify their actions. Morons uses an image of the 1987 Sotheby's sale of Van Gogh's sunflowers (in his version, Banksy replaced the painting with the slogan ‘I can’t believe you morons actually buy this shit’).
