• DACS: How much is DACS?

  The artwork may be applicable for the deduction of Artist Resale Rights (ARR) which would be payable to DACS. The higher the sale price of the artwork the lower the overall royalty rate. • DACS: What is Artist's Resale Rights?

  The Artist's Resale Right means that artists could be entitled to a royalty each time their work is resold with the involvement of an auction house, gallery or dealer for €1,000 or more.

  As of 1 January 2012, the Right in the UK was extended to cover sales of work by deceased artists still in copyright, which means that beneficiaries and heirs can now benefit. In the UK, copyright lasts for the lifetime of the artist plus 70 years after their death, to the end of that calendar year.

  This is the most significant new right for visual artists and their heirs in recent times, giving them an ongoing stake in the value of the artist's work.

• How do I apply for a Pest Control COA?

  COA's are issued by Pest Control. They can be applied for directly with the Pest Control Office. If the application is successful you will be contacted and a payment of £50 + VAT will be requested. You will then be issued a certificate of authenticity for your Banksy and it is ready to sell.

  Be aware the process is by no means immediate and can take anything from a few weeks to a few months or sometimes even years when there is a backlog.

• What happens if the artwork does not sell?

  On occasion, we will not be able to find a buyer for the artwork. This is rare and should this happen we will discuss available options with you in person.

• What if the artwork I have sold arrives at the gallery damaged?

  We are liable for the artwork once it is in the gallery’s possession however it is the seller’s responsibility to ensure it reaches us in good order.

• Who covers the shipping costs?

  It is the seller's responsibility to cover any and all costs relating to packing and shipping the artwork to the gallery. The gallery will then arrange with the buyer the onward shipping needs.

• Who is responsible for import charges when sending artwork using the 'Sell Art' service?

  It is the responsibility of the seller to arrange for artwork(s) that are being sold to be shipped safely to the gallery.
  
  All postage and any customs fees incurred are the responsibility of the seller. The gallery will pay these fees on behalf of the seller and they will be deducted from the sales commission once the artwork is sold. If the artwork remains unsold and is requested back then any customs fees would be payable in advance of the artwork being returned.

  When submitting a consignment, we ask that you provide as much information as possible on the item in question. Please be open about the condition of the work and include detailed images if possible. Ideally, we would ask for images of the following:

  • The front
  • The back
  • Any details (signature, number, title, labels)
  • Any condition issues
  • Any Certificate of Authenticity
  • Any provenance documentation
