The original edition of this print was made by Modern Multiples for the 2006 Barely Legal show in LA: a few month's later, Banksy asked for the plates to be destroyed and created subsequent editions with Pictures On Walls. Printed on cream paper, the original edition is slightly different to the subsequent ones (which comes in both black and white and colour) because one of the caveman is wielding an alternative weapon. In 2007, Banksy reprised the image for an extremely limited charity edition of just 28 prints, sold at Santa's Ghetto at Bethlehem's Walled Off hotel.

The most famously anonymous artist in the world, Banksy made the front pages when he auto-shredded Girl With Balloon during a 2018 Sotheby's auction. Known for his thought-provoking social commentary, Banksy's varied works include the Walled Off Hotel (with its view of the West Bank barrier), cover art for Blur's Think Tank album, and a gigantic graffiti piece about Brexit, in the UK port of Dover.
