NOLA (Green Rain), sometimes referred to as 'Yellow Rain', features a fluorescent greenish-yellow pigment and is one of the most sought-after versions of this iconic motif. It was released in a limited edition of just 31 copies.
The title "NOLA" stands for New Orleans, Louisiana (LA), the city where Banksy first introduced this subject as a stencilled graffiti piece in 2008. The image, depicting a girl being drenched by rain falling from inside her umbrella, references the catastrophic impact of Hurricane Katrina in 2005, worsened by the failure of flood defences meant to protect the city's residents.

Christie's Online, 'Nola (Yellow Rain)', March 2021
The most famously anonymous artist in the world, Banksy made the front pages when he auto-shredded Girl With Balloon during a 2018 Sotheby's auction. Known for his thought-provoking social commentary, Banksy's varied works include the Walled Off Hotel (with its view of the West Bank barrier), cover art for Blur's Think Tank album, and a gigantic graffiti piece about Brexit, in the UK port of Dover.
