In 2007, TFL painted over Banksy’s Pulp Fiction mural near Old Street station citing ‘a general atmosphere… of social decay which in turn encourages crime’ as the reason behind the decision. The action only prompted more crime – Banksy came back and re-stencilled a new version of the piece, this time with John Travolta and Samuel L Jackson wearing banana costumes and carrying real guns.
