From the Turner Prize nomination to prestigious commissions in Trafalgar Square and Central Park and more, here is our round-up of 11 memorable moments in David Shrigley's career.
1. In 1995, he opened his first solo exhibition, Map of the Sewer at Transmission Gallery, Glasgow.
2. In 2003, he directed the video for British band Blur's "Good Song" from the album Think Tank.
3. In 2013, David Shrigley is nominated for the Turner Prize for his solo exhibition at Hayward Gallery, David Shrigley: Brain Activity.
4. In 2014, Shrigley took over The Gallery at the famous - and very Instagrammable, London restaurant Sketch.
The site would host 239 new works, the largest presentation of original Shrigley drawings to date.
5. In 2016, Shrigley's sculpture Really Good - A bronze cast of a fist with an out-of-proportion thumbs-up is installed on Trafalgar Square's Fourth plinth.

6. Also in 2016, Shrigley's shopping list drops in Central Park. A 17-foot high granite monolithic marble sculpture.

8. Lockdown Drawings
Created during the spring of 2020, they are over 340 untitled ink drawings portraying mundane situations in Shrigley's satirical and witty style.
"It feels quite healthy emotionally, it's somewhere where you can go, where I can go to escape from 'reality', such as it is right now."

9. 2021 - Ruinart offers Shrigley their Carte Blanche - an annual collaboration the winery offers to leading contemporary artists.

10. Founded by Shrigley and his long-term friend Nicolai Wallner, the Shrig Shop opened in Copenhagen in 2022. Selling from limited editions to postcards, it has become an extension of David Shrigley's artistic practice.
11. 2022 - Shrigley creates the design for the semicircular pool of the newly open Brighton Soho House.
A ripe banana is a good metaphor for Kemptown. A place for eccentricity, decadence and craziness.
