Some of our favourite artists are having major shows this year and we have gone through the almost impossible task of selecting five we think you should add to your calendar. You might need to book flight tickets to visit some of them, but they are definitely worth it!
Grayson Perry: Posh Cloths

Posh Cloths brings together a body of work spanning over the last eight years. Tapestry and textiles have been a constant method of communication throughout Perry's career and have allowed the exploration of core themes such as classical myths, religion, politics and consumerism to be depicted.
Coinciding with this show, Victoria Miro is also holding a Grayson Perry Exhibition in Venice (11 Feb - 2 April) comprising of works in silver and bronze, ceramics, and works on paper.
And if that isn't enough, you will also be able to visit Grayson's Art Club: The Exhibition from 8th February - 16th April at Midlands Arts Centre and at the Scottish National Gallery from 1st April - 1st January 2024, an exhibition that covers his 40-year career.

David Hockney: Bigger & Closer (Not Smaller and Further Away)

It seems 2023 will be a busy year for David Hockney with shows in the UK, Germany and Tokyo.
Bigger & Closer (Not Smaller and Further Away) has just opened at the Lightroom in Kings Cross, London and has been a smash. This immersive experience allows you to be drawn into Hockney's paintings that have been pivotal in his road to success and spans his 60-year career.

Yayoi Kusama: You, Me and the Balloon

Pop Masters: Art from the Mugrabi collection, New York
HOTA, Queensland, Australia | 18th Feb - 4th June
Described as an international blockbuster exhibition, Pop Masters brings together the icons from New York to paint a picture of Pop Art over the past 60 years.
Jean-Michel Basquiat, Andy Warhol and Keith Haring will remain the poster boys of this exhibition however, it will also feature works from Katherine Bernhardt, Mickalene Thomas, KAWS and more.

Derrick Adams: I Can Show You Better Than I Can Tell You
The FLAT Art Foundation, New York | 13 Jan - 11 March
The American visual artist's new solo exhibition has just opened in New York. Comprising of 16 large-scale works that focus on the convergence of film, TV and media. His works refer to the different stages of film-making. From close-up shots, billboards, trailers and story-boarding.
Adams has made his name in depicting African culture and beaming light on moments of joy, leisure and day-to-day life.
